December 25, 2019, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL) held a sharing meeting on the application for the 2020 National Natural Science Foundation of China. SU Fen, Special Assistant to the Vice President of Research at the Southern University of Science and Technology, was invited as the guest speaker to give report and share experience regarding the topic. SZBL leadership including TU Huan and SZBL science researchers and staff attending the meeting.

During the meeting, it was noted by TU Huan that the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has become a principal source and support to China’s domestic basic research development, for it guides and promotes the ways we conduct basic research, cultivate talents and develop disciplines, and for it provides a foothold for our science professionals to grow. Our laboratory focuses both basic and frontier research across the areas of bioinformatics, bomedicine and medical engineering, and also highlights the importance of trans-disciplinary endeavors and talent nurturing - all these are what the NSFC truly upholds and values in its mission. TU Huan continued to pointed out that the NSFC provides a benchmark that tests our science strengths and she called on the researchers to apply for NSFC with high-quality projects they could deliver.

SU Fen gave report on the application policy of the NSFC. She made comprehensive interpretation to the audience regarding the NSFC organization, application and evaluation procedures, application and funding overview for the year of 2019, funding reform and so forth. The report received high attention and active interaction from the audience.
