On April 20, 2026, Nieng Yan, founding president of the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART), and director of the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL), led a delegation to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, for a research and inspection visit. That afternoon, Weizhong Wang, Secretary of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress, cordially met with Nieng Yan and her delegation in Hohhot. The two sides engaged in an in-depth exchange of views on deepening cooperation in medical science and technology innovation between Guangdong and Inner Mongolia.

Weizhong Wang extended a warm welcome to Nieng Yan and her delegation, emphasizing that the region would fully support comprehensive cooperation between SMART, SZBL, and Inner Mongolia in areas such as joint discipline development, collaborative research, talent recruitment and cultivation, and the commercialization of research outcomes, with the aim of establishing a model for the integration of science, education, and industry between eastern and western China. Nieng Yan expressed gratitude for the attention and support from the Autonomous Region's Party Committee and government, stating that she would fully leverage the research and platform strengths of SMART and SZBL to support the high-quality development of Inner Mongolia's biomedicine and healthcare industries.
Prior to the meeting, a signing ceremony for strategic cooperation agreements between SMART, SZBL, the Department of Education of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Inner Mongolia University was held at the Donghe Hotel in Hohhot. Huan Tu, Vice President of SMART and Deputy Director of SZBL; Wei Li, Deputy Director-General of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Education; and Wei Hu, Vice President of Inner Mongolia University, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties. President Nieng Yan , He Su, Vice Chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government; Huiliang Du, Director-General of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Department of Education; and Limin Wu, President of Inner Mongolia University, jointly witnessed the signing.
