Since the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the science community had been attempting to find solutions to fight this novel virus. Scientists from SZBL are also joining this battle against the current public threat.

February 7, 2020, a SZBL delegation went to the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen to conduct further investigative study that helps look into the difficulty during clinical prevention and treatment of the novel coronavirus.

On the meeting with the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention, SZBL delegates were introduced with relevant scheme and measure for epidemic control and new needs that occurred in actual work, which awaited further research and technology to address. The delegates from SZBL introduced the laboratory’s latest research tasks on the novel coronavirus control and prevention and associated open programs. Based on that, the two parties went into more details that would bring joint efforts to fight the novel coronavirus.

After the meeting with the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the delegation went to the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen. The SZBL delegates and the Hospital representatives discussed on drug repurposing by adopting conventional drugs to help prevent the novel coronavirus. The Hospital expressed supportive willingness to join hands with SZBL in sci-tech cooperation that would address more urgent needs.

The Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Third People’s Hospital of Shenzhen are both outstanding institutions in delivering control and prevention to major and emergent epidemics. Through working with these two institutions, SZBL will be gathering more strengths to fight the novel coronavirus.
