In order to smoothly carry out the application for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and improve the basic research and the ability to undertake national scientific tasks, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory held the “Application Preparation Ceremony for 2022 National Natural Science Foundation of China”. Some research fellows were invited to make special reports at the ceremony, including Wang Fei, Deputy Director of the Digestive Medicine Center of the 7th Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Professor Din Ke from the School of Pharmacy, Jinan University, and Zhang Bo from the Institute of Neurological Diseases, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory. A total of 200 research fellows from relevant institutes/centers participated in the online/offline conference presided over by Li Chao, Deputy Director of Office for Research.
Wu Yun-Dong, Academician and Executive Deputy Director of the laboratory, gave a mobilization speech before the seminar. He pointed out that the application for the National Natural Science Foundation was a systematic summary of the scientific researches, which played an important role in the personal growth of scientific researchers because it could boost the level of scientific research and improve the scientific expression and inter-peer exchanges and cooperation. He hoped all the staff could attach great importance to the application and strive to achieve more results in the application for the 2022 National Natural Science Foundation.
Wang Fei, research fellow, interpreted the relevant policies and shared her experience from several aspects such as the situation of national application and funding, the declaration process and precautions as well as her working experience in the Foundation Committee in the past years. She stressed the issues to be noticed with regard to the schedules’ milestsones and the reviews by the Fund Committee, hoping that all the research fellows should comply with the concept of "new idea, solid foundation, excellent bidding, extensive exchange" during the application so as to make all-round preparations for the declaration.
As a senior member of Panel Judges, Professor Ding Ke shared the key factors affecting the application preparation, the general application process and the common problems from the perspective of individual application and panel judges. He encouraged all the research fellows to actively put forward application with accurate directions, condensed research objectives, highlighted advantages, standard verbal norms, strict logic to continuously improve the declaration form. His speech was very informative with practical significance of guidance.
Zhang Bo, the principal investigator of SZBL, once again stressed the importance of applying for/approval of national natural projects and he also advised all the researchers to be mentally and strategically prepared. Starting from the project basis and content to the research foundations, he analyzed the basic points and common mistakes of the application form in detail, hoping all the research fellows to achieve accuracy, authenticity and meticulosity so as to be approved smoothly.
The application preparation ceremony kicked off the application for 2022 National Natural Science Foundation in the Laboratory. The Scientific Research Department will continue to push forward the projects’ declaration, organize the guidance for relevant institutes, improve the quality of bidding document, increase the probability of winning, actively carry forward the spirit of scientists and march toward a higher goal.
