August 19, SZBL leadership Hu Xiaojun led a delegation of more than 30 members to Tencent for a visit. During the visit, the delegates were met by Tencent’s VP Ding Ke and the two sides discussed topics on AI in biomedical R&D, cooperation in joint laboratory, and the development of IT service in scientific institutions.

The delegates were taken to a guided tour around the exhibition hall to learn about the history, business and achievement of the company before proceeding to the meeting session.

Tencent Medical AI Lab Chief Scientist Yao Jianhua introduced how the company develops AI technology to assist medical practices in precision medicine, pathology analysis, sequencing data analysis, neuro-navigation in surgery and so on. An investigator from the Medical AI Lab also made presentation on the Tencent cases and experience of predictive AI modelling in medical R&D. The meeting discussed cooperation in AI and medical R&D combined talent training and innovation, construction of joint laboratory, and the development of IT service in scientific institutions.

Hu Xiaojun, Party Chief of SZBL, pointed out that Tencent and SZBL hold broad prospect for cooperation as both parties demonstrate complementary strengths and establish crucial roles in boosting regional prosperity. Hu hoped that SZBL and Tencent can enhance communication and connection on a more regular basis, and create more opportunities for substantive cooperation.

Tencent VP Ding Ke warmly welcomed the SZBL delegates.He said that Tencent aims to create new values to the society through technology R&D.In line with this strategy, Tencent AI Lab has made medical care as its R&D priority with increasing investment. Ding expected that Tencent and SZBL can spark innovation-based growth in the very open, intellectual and creative ecosystem in Shenzhen and steer towards in-depth cooperation in medical R&D and education.
