Recently, a seminar featuring the prevention and treatment of the Alzheimer’s Disease was held between Shenzhen Bay Laboratory(SZBL)and Shenzhen University (SZU). The seminar joined discussion on leading research topics and potential cooperation related to the detection and treatment of AD. Ni Jiazuan, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of SZU, along with faculty and students from SZU, attended in the seminar with SZBL leadership including Wu Yun-Dong and Tu Huan.
Wu Yun-Dong introduced to the participants about SZBL’s current work on AD research. He highlighted the Greater Bay Area Healthy Aging Brain Study (GHABS), a joint scientific initiative among SZBL and hospitals in the Greater Bay Area that focuses on AD-related pathologies changes and aims to establish an effective prevention scheme for elderly adults who have AD pathologies in China’s aging population.
Ni Jiazuan acknowledged the progress made in AD research at SZBL. He pointed out that AD is still a major health problem that demands greater attention and research inputs. He also proposed that researchers from both sides to join hands and advance our knowledge and technology against this disease.
Members from the two parties held in-depth exchanges on current research and cutting-edge topics on AD. AD pathology, PET imaging, early detection and technology, clinical trials and experimental ethics were also discussed.
SZBL Vice Director Tu Huan concluded the seminar. She said that the seminar was a positive step for the two parties to enhance communications and tap cooperative potential. She also suggested that discussion for establishing a sustainable cooperative mechanism be conducted to consolidate foundation for future cooperation.
