Recently, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory （SZBL）BayRay Innovation Center and Ferring International Center S.A. (Ferring Pharmaceuticals) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The cooperation aims at jointly establishing a leading drug delivery R&D institute with global benchmarks on cooperative innovation, technology incubation and product development.

A near-term goal of this cooperation between BayRay and Ferring will be speeding up the realization of full circle R&D capabilities basing drug delivery technology innovation products to address unmet demands. The two sides will focus on the development of cutting-edge drug delivery technologies, like intracellular delivery, tissue and organ targeting, special delivery pathways, release regulation, protein/nucleic acid delivery, and improved oral administration. Given the complexity of drug delivery products, both sides will explore new methods for complex drug delivery using AI, IoT, or robotics-inspired technologies, with which to incorporate the advantages of Shenzhen City in IT and manufacturing industry.

The cooperation sees more opportunities under the theme of drug delivery. It is said that the two sides will also carry out cooperation that spans wider dimensions, with the involvement of more scientists, research institutions and pharmaceuticals around the world, to bridge research, industrialization and commercialization so as to promote the drug delivery ecosystem and the development of biopharmaceutical sector.

The signing marks an important step forward for this strategic partnership. The alliance of a multinational pharmaceutical company and a novel research institute speaks for an innovation in cooperation mechanism. Both BayRay and Ferring are confident of the cooperation.
