On December 3, the First Strategic Advisory Committee Meeting and the Second Academic Committee Meeting of SZBL were successfully held at the Gaoke Innovation Center.

Academician and also the SZBL Strategic Advisory Committee Vice Chairperson Wang Xiaofan hosted the meeting. SZBL leadership including Zhan Qimin, Lin Jianhua, Wu Yun-Dong and Hu Xiaojun, attended the meeting.

Lin Jianhua, Special Advisor to SZBL, announced the constitution of SZBL Strategic Advisory Committee and the members of the first committee. The committee heard report from Zhan Qimin regarding development progress of SZBL and discussed over the strategic positioning, research areas and missions, systems and mechanism of SZBL. As the meeting pointed out, the laboratory should further identify its strategic positioning, strengthen collaborative ties and improve mechanism for talent cultivation.

SZBL also held the Second Academic Committee Meeting in the afternoon of December 30. Zhang Mingjie, Chairperson of the Academic Committee, hosted the meeting. The committee heard reports from SZBL Vice Director Gao Yiqin regarding talent acquisition, scientific research and development of SZBL institutes. The meeting pointed out that, to consistently promote comprehensive development, SZBL should clarify scientific goals, enhance institutional mechanism, stepping up efforts in innovating science and research, as well as talent acquisition and cultivation. Attending the meeting were committee members, Shenzhen government officials and SZBL leadership including Zhan Qimin, Lin Jianhua, Wu Yun-Dong and Huxiao Jun.

The December 3 meetings provided complete views on the work of SZBL since establishment. The meeting summarized and discussed the performance, progress and existing issues of the laboratory, and developed strategic and scientific scheme for the coming future.

On the day before December 3, SZBL also convened the heads from its institutes and centers for a joint meeting, focusing on development plans, scientific plans and relevant issues. Official from the Department of Science and a Technology of Guangdong Province, SZBL leadership and heads from SZBL institutes and centers attended the meeting.
