
The first meeting of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL) Ethics Committee was held on September 17. Presided by WAN Jun, Chair of the Ethics Committee, the meeting provided a recap on the work of the committee, discussed standards for ethics review and will enhance ethical work environment within the laboratory. Committee special advisor, members and SZBL department representatives attended the meeting.
WAN Jun provided detailed briefing on the work progress of the committee. Discussions were conducted to issues regarding committee charters, work agenda and existing challenges. The meeting also developed plan for future committee work, which included the construction of an animal center.
As the first gathering of the Ethics Committee members, the meeting facilitated system building and procedures pertaining to the laboratory’s ethical practices. It also helped to promote ethical behaviors amongst laboratory researchers in response to academic and scientific undertakings and stressed the importance of an ethical culture within the laboratory.
