On June 19, Chinese Academician JIN Ningyi and related officials from the Guangming District government visited Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL). Dr. ZHONG Guocai from SZBL Institute of Chemical Biology, and LI Chao, Head of SZBL Office of Collaboration & Planning, welcomed and met with the delegates.

As a part of the visit, Academician JIN was taken to a tour around SZBL exhibition hall, where he was introduced with a blueprint of how SZBL will echo scientific missions with Guangming Science City to power the development of the Comprehensive National Science Center, and provided with a detailed briefing on the developments of SZBL covering milestones, talent absorption, key research areas and planning of the permanent site. He was also briefed about the laboratory’s latest efforts on research combating COVID-19.

Academician JIN Ningyi is a virologist of Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and expert of Academy of Military Medical Sciences. He embraced long-established expertise in the field of virology. On hearing the briefings, he highly affirmed the laboratory’s efforts on COVID-19 research and had in-depth discussion with the SZBL representatives regarding relevant issues. Both parties anticipated further exchange and cooperation in the future.
