The Hebei-Shenzhen Health Industry Cooperation Development Conference was successfully held on May 18, in Langfang, China. Themed on The Challenges and Opportunities of Health Industry in the Post-epidemic Ara, the conference, brought together industry, enterprises and trade group leaders and professionals to discuss critical issues on major diseases and the aging of population, and presented opportunities for future collaborations between Hebei and Shenzhen in areas of bioinformation, biomedicine and medical engineering.

Jointly organized by the People’s Government of Hebei Province, Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, Langfang Municipal People’s Government, Shijiazhuang Municipal People’s Government, Qinhuangdao People’s Government and SZBL, the conference was participated by government officials and representatives from over 70 enterprises and institutions in Hebei and Shenzhen.
Shenzhen Executive Vice Mayor Liu Qingsheng attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Liu Qingsheng said that both Hebei and Shenzhen have distinctive regional competitiveness to facilitate the development of national biomedical industry base. Hebei has long-standing history and leading strengths in health industry while Shenzhen is developing a batch of large scientific facilities and innovative platforms under the strategic framework of the Greater Bay Area. He pointed out that Shenzhen should continue to give full play to the dual development and enhance industrial ties with Hebei to bring China’s development in the health sector to a upper level.
Hu Xiaojun, Secretary of SZBL Party Committee, spoke on behalf of SZBL at the conference. He highlighted SZBL’s role in carrying out the strategic initiative of building Shenzhen into a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics, saying that the laboratory is an innovative dynamo for promoting biomedical development within the region. He expressed the wish for further scientific cooperation and exchange between Hebei and Shenzhen.

Structured with keynote and dialogue sessions, the conference was enriched by various topics including development strategies for biomedical industry in the post-epidemic era, big data and precision nutrition, innovation and transformation in biomedical instruction, health management and so on. In the dialogue session, industry leaders and research scientists were invited to share insights on the synergistic innovation and development prospect of the health industry in Hebei and Shenzhen. SZBL scientist Li Zigang, also senior principal investigator at the Pingshan Translational Medicine Center (PTMC), joined the dialogue. He noted that Hebei and Shenzhen have complementary strengths for growing biotechnology and related industries, and also called for more bipartie cooperation to create a more influential China profile in biomedicine and technology.

Enterprise leaders from Shenzhen went on to an inspection tour to Hebei’s representative industrial parks and enterprises. The tour presented a bigger picture on Hebei’s health industry and investment environment, stimulating more collaborative potentials for Hebei and Shenzhen health industry.
