The Signing Ceremony of the Strategic Cooperation between Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL) and Carl Zeiss Group (Zeiss) on the establishment of the Shenzhen Bay Laboratory - Carl Zeiss Joint Imaging Center was held on March 30.
Hu Xiaojun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory, and Maximilian Foerst, President of Carl Zeiss Greater China, delivered speeches at the ceremony. Hu Xiaojun said in his speech that SZBL sustained great responsibilities and played an important exemplary role in the scientific research and development of Greater Bay Area. High-level technology platform is crucial for the scientific research and development of SZBL and the Laboratory will build a top-class technology platform that meet global benchmarks. The cooperation with Carl Zeiss Group, a top multinational company who has excellent technical capabilities in the field of microscopic imaging, will not only promote the scientific research and innovation in SZBL, but also make positive contributions to the development of life and health industry in Shenzhen and Greater Bay Area.
Mr. Maximilian Foerst, President of Carl Zeiss Greater China, introduced the R&D history and innovative development concept of Carl Zeiss, said that they would provide strong support in the frontier scientific research and discovery for SZBL. He also put forward expectations for the future cooperation, hoping to have in-depth cooperation in scientific device development, personnel training, etc. On behalf of the SZBL, Zhang Xinhao, Assistant to the SZBL Director, signed the cooperation agreement with the representative of Zeiss, Zhang Yuxin, Director of Zeiss China Microscope Division.
Seeing is believing. Advanced precision imaging technology is indispensable in biomedical research. The Imaging Core of SZBL is a high-end innovative facility built to capture life processes of cells spanning different time and space through panoramic medical images of multiple modalities based on optical, electronic, radionuclide tools and etc. This facility will not only provide bio-imaging support for the within the Laboratory, but also for scientific research organs and R&D enterprises in Shenzhen and even Guangdong Province.
Seeing beyond. Carl Zeiss, as a pioneering provider of scientific optics instruments, sees the bright future of Guangming Science City and the cooperation with SZBL. In addition to in-depth cooperation in scientific research and technology development, according to the cooperation agreement, Carl Zeiss will establish a Microscope Teaching Lab in SZBL, aiming to provide favorable conditions for professional talent training as well as scientific education in the Greater Bay Area. The establishment of Shenzhen Bay Laboratory - Carl Zeiss Joint Imaging Center will broaden the channels for acquiring cutting-edge technology and further consolidate the scientific capacity for to support future research.
Carl Zeiss Senior Technicians Zhang Yan and Philipp Bastians delivered two cutting-edge lectures on optical technology and cryo‐correlative light and electron microscopy, and had exchanges with SZBL researchers. SZBL representative researchers and technicians including Zhou Lei, Peng Qin, Deng Lin, and Sun Zhenglong attended the discussion.
