April 28, a delegation from Pingshan Translational Medicine Center (PTMC) of SZBL visited Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU). Led by PTMC Deputy Director LI Zigang, the SZBL delegation was also joined by CHEN Jie’an, Research Associate Professor of PTMC; YIN Feng, Research Associate Professor of PTMC; and CAO Yang, Head of the SZBL Office for Research. The delegates were met by SZTU representatives from the College of Health Science and Environmental Engineering, including College Dean HU Junqing, Vice Dean CHEN Lingling, Professor LI Rongsong and Professor KANG Yan.

HU Junqing, Dean of the College of Health Science and Environmental Engineering, SZTU, welcomed the delegates and briefed about the development in various aspects at SZTU, with specific focuses on education mode, talent cultivation, university-enterprise cooperation, and international cooperation. Dean HU introduced the faculties at SZTU, pointing out that the university as a whole is forging ahead towards the goal of becoming a world-class technological-intense university through expanding international partnerships, absorbing high-end professionals, strengthening industrial linkage and the nurturing of a new generation of talents with craftsmanship spirit, innovation competitiveness and global vision.

CHEN Jie’an, introduced the mission, structure, global collaboration and talent absorption of PTMC. The two parties further exchanged opinions and reached preliminary consensus on collaboration regarding research, talent cultivation and shared service platform development.

Followed by the visit to SZTU, the SZBL delegation went to the Shenzhen Biomedicine Innovations Industrial Park and met with their representatives. Both parties exchanged opinions on issues relating shared service platform building, instrument procurement and technology support. These efforts are taken just after the release of a government document recently, which says the Shenzhen High-tech Industrial Park (Pingshan) will be developed as the core part of the Shenzhen National High-tech Zone. This provides an opportunity and also assigns a mission to PTMC to leverage its strengths that supports the development of the industrial park in Pingshan, Shenzhen. In the future, PTMC will foster great efforts to not only help develop the shared platform, but also support biomedical enterprise within the region, while powering research and transformation that promotes the region’s capacity in basic biomedical research and its competitiveness as a national hub for bio-industry in a long run.
