September 20, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (SZBL) welcomed a delegation from the Bureau of Frontier Sciences & Education of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). The visit aims at facilitating scientific exchange between the CAS and Shenzhen and for seeking partnership and joint contribution to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Joining the delegation were SHEN Yi, Director of the Division of Life Sciences of the CAS Bureau of Frontier Sciences & Education; LI Jinzhu, Deputy Director of the Research and Development Office, UCAS; XU Zhiming, President of the UCAS Shenzhen Hospital; ZHANG Peng, Deputy Director of the Science Management Department of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Sciences, CAS; and HAN Wenxuan, Director of the Secretariat Office of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, CAS. ZHANG Xinhao, Assistant to the SZBL Director, and other SZBL officials, welcomed and met with the delegation.

During the meeting, ZHANG Xinhao briefed the delegation with the development of SZBL, spotlighting on the laboratory’s efforts in talent absorption, distribution of key research areas, institutional and structural management, and construction on major sci-tech facilities. ZHANG also stressed on how the laboratory has been seeking new approaches that can drive research and transformation at best. He added about the support from both provincial and municipal governments to the laboratory, extending anticipation for further exchange and cooperation with the CAS to collaboratively power the dual development of the Greater Bay Area and Shenzhen.

In-depth exchanges on distribution of research areas, talent absorption and cultivation, funds management and joint contribution were conducted followed the briefing.
